timber furniture

If you want to preserve your timber furniture, make sure that it is not exposed to strong sunlight or extreme temperature.

Some timber furniture will benefit from an occasional polish, but this will not suit all types. If your furniture has a lacquered finish, then adding an oily mixture may only attract more dust. In this case, you will only need a simple wipe with a damp cloth sprinkled with your favourite essential oil.

Timber that is unfinished or old will respond to Perfect Furniture Polish. Rub it onto the underside of tables and other surfaces too, to prevent cracking. But be careful and do not use this product on furniture with a French polish finish.

For scratches in timber furniture, rub in lemon juice and vegetable oil, mixed in equal amounts. The white marks left by hot cups can be removed by rubbing in a mixture of olive oil and salt. You could also rub mayonnaise into the marks, and leave overnight. When you wipe away the mayonnaise the next day, the marks should be gone.

Now you know how to look after your timber furniture in a green and eco-friendly way.
